Prospects for Agroforestry in the Tropics

Agroforestry has come of age remarkably during the past 10 to 15 years. However, the lack of a synthesized 'package' of technical and socio-economic information on agroforestry is a serious drawback in channeling development assistance to agroforestry projects. The objective of the report is to fill this gap. By reviewing the scientific information currently available, the report seeks to establish the scientific basis and principles of agroforestry and to evaluate field research on agroforestry practices; it also discusses the economic and socio-cultural aspects of agroforestry, as seen by a 'non-expert'.
