Horticultural Exports from Jordan: Prices, Policies and Prospects

Due to declining oil prices in the 1980's, Jordan has experienced a decrease in remittances and other types of financial support from its oil-producing neighbors. To rebuild its foreign exchange reserves, the country needs to strengthen the traded goods sector. The study analyzes the prospects for expansion of Jordanian horticultural exports, focusing on macroeconomic policies which are not directly related to the horticulture sector but which are crucial determinants of the real exchange rate.
