Top of the Peninsula: A History of Sweeney Ridge and the San Francisco Watershed Lands, San Mateo County, California.

The purpose of the report is to identify, and, where possible, locate historical, archeological, and architectural resources in the study area in the central portion of San Mateo County. The project area includes some 24,000 acres on two adjoining parcels: Sweeney Ridge, part of Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA); and the San Francisco Water Department's watershed lands in San Mateo County. The author presents the historic resources study as a stepping stone to aid in future historic and archeologic research in the area. The report is an initial installment of what hopefully will become an archive of information concerning cultural resources which will aid in informed decision-making by responsible officials in agencies charged with stewardship of the natural and cultural resources of GGNRA and San Francisco watershed lands.
