摘要

The main objective of the expedition is to study the meaning of oceanographicparameters and paleoceanographic signals and their alterations within the sediments before they will be buried for a long time. Special attention will be directed to Al-rich opal and its influence on the silica cycle, and the deep-water circulation of the Angola and Guinee Basins. Diagenetic alterations and fluxes into and out of the sediment will be studied in relation to conversion processes of organic compounds. The final aim is to make the results applicable for paleoceanographic studies, in particular of the history of the deep-ocean waters (AABW), and for paleoclimatic studies.
