Sea Cucumber Contaminants Study: Data Quality Assurance Review.

This report documents the results of a quality assurance review of analytical results for metals, acid/base/neutral (ABN) semivolatile compounds, and pesticides and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in sea cucumber tissue from Puget Sound. PTI (1989) documented sampling and analysis procedures for this project. The composite sampling scheme for field sample collection was designed to ensure that the analytical data would be representative of the mean concentrations of contaminants in sea cucumbers present at each station (PTI 1989). All analyses were conducted by Analytical Resources, Inc. (ARI) and data were reported as wet weight concentrations. The quality assurance review included examination and validation of the following laboratory data: Sample digestion and extraction logs; All instrument print-outs including mass spectra and gas chromatograms; Instrument calibration and calibration verification results; Sample holding times and custody records; Manual data transcriptions and computer algorithms. Data qualifiers were assigned as necessary during this review. Following the validation procedures, data quality was assessed with respect to accuracy, precision, and completeness.
