摘要

The testimony is offered in support of the OSHA proposed revision of the personalprotective equipment (PPE) standards. Specifically the testimony addresses training/motivation strategies, performance versus design standards, third party certification, footwear specification, eye protection, head protection, and PPE systems. Successful training programs should include sensitizing the workers to the need for such protectors and inviting their participation in developing a suitable plan for effecting PPE use, defining the written goals of the PPE program in terms of the target behaviors sought, explicit rewards or recognition to be given contingent on the workers displaying actions that conform to the positive acts, and a basis for evaluation so that modifications can be made in the plan if needed.
