Nonferrous Metal Prices in the United States through 1988

The publication provides historical price data for the nonferrous metals in the United States and a discussion of the events that influenced those prices. Current dollar prices were compiled on an annual basis to show long-term trends. The sources of the prices are given in individual sections. Current prices given are an average for the year, the yearend price, or an average of available yearend prices. U.S. Gross National Product implicit price deflators from 1909 to 1988, published by the Bureau of Economic Analysis, Department of Commerce, were used to convert metal prices in current dollars to prices in constant 1987 dollars. Included are sections on the precious metals, and the less known metals, such as scandium, gallium, indium, and the rare earth metals. Traditional metals such as copper, lead, zinc, and tin, and the so called, modern metals, such as titanium, magnesium, and beryllium, also are covered.
