The two-volume study provides a 'state of knowledge' analysis of importantinteractions between international migration and development in Sub-Saharan Africa. Based upon a critical review of more than 900 documents as well as original quantitative analysis, Volume 1 documents the scale and magnitude of migration trends and their interrelationships with remittances, labor markets, highly skilled manpower, education, health, and agriculture. Policies toward population movements and the subject of refugees are also treated. An extensive selected bibliography and subject index are included.
