Fish Kills in Coastal Waters, 1980-1989

The report summarizes results of efforts across the Nation to identify, report,and assess the causes of fish kills in coastal rivers, streams, and estuarine waters between 1980 and 1989. The location, extent, severity, timing, and cause of over 3600 fish-kill events are documented. Data are shown for the 22 coastal states bordering the Atlantic, Gulf of Mexico, and Pacific coasts. The information compiled should enable environmental managers and planners at the Federal, State, and local level to pinpoint 'problem areas'.
