The NHANES I Epidemiologic Followup Study (NHEFS) is a longitudinal study whichuses as its baseline those adult persons ages 25 to 74 years who were examined in the first National Health and Nutrition Survey (NHANES I). The NHEFS is comprised of a series of followup surveys. The 1987 NHEFS Health Care Facility Stay (HCFS) file contains information on all overnight health care facility stays for members of the 1987 Followup cohort. The 1987 Followup cohort consisted of the 11,750 subjects who were between 25 and 74 years old at their NHANES I examination and were not known to be deceased at the time of the 1986 NHEFS. The 1987 NHEFS Health Care Facility Stay file contains all information on overnight stays that are in-scope for the 1987 NHEFS period.
