Alternative Technologies for Processing Raw Materials

There is need for diversification and concerned efforts to simply find efficientconventional material technologies to process a broader spectrum of local conventional materials in order to add value to them. The study presents a concept of alternative technologies for processing conventional materials on the basis of an analysis which shows the various aspects to have optimum conditions in the conventional materials processing industry in Africa. It discusses the required operations and equipment encountered in processing of agro, mineral as well as building materials. The main part of the study describes the process technologies for 30 conventional materials in the above mentioned sectors. Concrete measures to develop strategies on the promotion of conventional materials, as well as training strategies for local human resources, are shown.
