The volume contains methodology papers, section overviews, and plenary presentations from the Second Annual Primary Care Research Conference: Theory and Methods, which was held January 13-15, 1991 in San Diego, CA. These papers describe the state-of-the-art in primary care research and offer proven theoretical and methodological approaches for research in the following areas: functional and health status; minority health; medical effectiveness; managed care; rural health; prevention and prevention implementation; and classification and case mix. A pre-workshop paper on establishing a practice-based research network is also included.
