摘要

One kind of therapy for treatment of cancer is the use of either systemic or regional hyperthermia combined with chemotherapy. Use of this combination of hyperthermia and chemotherapy has several bases: tumor cells appear to be more sensitive to heat than normal cells, heat and chemotherapy may have additive or synergistic effects on killing tumor cells, hyperthermia may selectively affect blood flow to the tumor, and the patient's own immune responses toward the tumor may be augmented causing the tumor's destruction. There are few controlled studies of this treatment. The purpose of the present assessment is to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of hyperthermia alone and hyperthermia combined with chemotherapy.
