The United States Generalized System of Preferences (GSP), provides preferential duty-free entry to approximately 4,284 products from 134 designated beneficiary countries and territories. The booklet is published as a practical guide to the U.S. GSP system. It outlines the requirements for importing articles duty-free under the program and for modifying the list of articles and countries eligible for duty-free treatment. It also provides comprehensive listings of all eligible beneficiaries and articles as of July 1, 1991. Articles are listed in the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS) nomenclature, which the United States implemented on January 1, 1989.
