Devonian shale gas production from wells in the CSW4-4A research area is concentrated on low-amplitude flexures that localize fracturing of the organic-rich Middle and Lower Huron Members. Flexures appear to have a direct association to faulting of basement rocks along the Rockcastle River Fault and the western margin of the Floyd County Channel. Syndepositional tectonism is apparent at the base of the Berea/Bedford interval along the Rockcastle River Fault. An association of siltstone/shaly siltstone beds with organic-rich black shales that enhance reservoir performance is not present in CSW4A. Three natural joint orientations have been measured in core. The NW-SE oriented joint set is partially mineralized and has less than silt-size apertures. Simulated apertures are calculated to be 10 microns or less. The average daily production for Devonianshale wells in the CSW4-4A research area is approximately 18.1 mcf.
