Forest Statistics for Land Outside National Forests in Eastern Montana, 1989

There are about 2.8 million acres of forest land outside the National Forests in eastern Montana, almost all of it timberland. Three-fourths of the forest land is privately owned. The estimated volume of wood on timberland is around 2 billion cubic feet. Net annual growth in 1988 was about 50 million cubic feet. The report highlights additional information on total land area, timberland area, volume, growth, and mortality.
