Determining the Integrity of Concrete Sumps: Technical Guidance Document

The guidance document explains how to assess the structural integrity of ahazardous waste sump that is made of concrete. First, mechanisms of concrete structural failure are examined to provide a foundation for conducting investigations. Steps for basic and secondary investigations, including methods for concrete inspection and sump leak testing, are presented. As part of the basic investigation, an approach for static head leak testing of water-filled sumps is provided. Lastly, methods for concrete repair and information on coatings for concrete are presented.
