Software Development Practice in a Scientific Computing Environment

The paper discusses an approach to software development as applied at NLR.Generally the software development process is divided in several phases, each phase having its specific reviews, documents and products. The method that is applied by NLR to follow this phased approach will be presented, as well as the tools and techniques that are needed to support this method.
