Superimposition implies the injection of a digital linemap in the oculairs of a stereoplotter so that the photo and the datafile of a certain area can be seen simultaneously. In this way a link has arisen between the stereoplotter and the Geographic Information System. In this research a literature study has been carried out of the operation of superimposition in general, and of four existing superimposition-systems of Intergraph, Kern, Wild and Zeiss in particular. Next research has been made into the precision of the injected image. Finally research has been done to what applications superimposition can be used. It has appeared that the value of superimposition is in the detection of changes by revision activities.
