Determination of Aquifer Characteristics in Spoil Generated by MountaintopRemoval: Valley Fill Coal-Mining Process

The report relates to establishment of ground water monitoring networks in themine spoil and a bedrock area at the Star Fire Site, Kentucky; measurement of hydraulic properties of spoil and different lithologic materials and collection of water-level and water-quality information. Increased efforts are focused on continuing the ground water monitoring program and to develop more surface water monitoring stations that will compliment the ground water data, and develop a hydrologic balance for the site and predict future water quality.
