The report describes the data processing work undertaken for the InstitutionalPopulation Component (IPC) of the 1987 National Medical Expenditure Survey (NMES). To the extent that the report describes the work actually accomplished, it complements the IPC Data Processing Plan, Deliverable no. 5.199. Topics discussed are as follows: (1) System design and survey methodology, (2) Data entry software systems, (3) Database design, (4) Survey management system, (5) Document flow and data preparation, (6) Data editing, (7) Development of weights, (8) Review and evaluation.
