摘要

The scenic vistas, prominent headlands, and long, open shorelines of SleepingBear Dunes National Lakeshore are outstanding natural features. The richness of the Lakeshore's physiography can be attributed to its legacy of moraines and outwash plains, and to the postglacial effects of water and wind which formed relict beach ridges, bluffs, and dunes. Streams, lakes, and wetlands contribute to the diversity of the landscape. This paper has two sections. The first includes a description of the National Lakeshore's vegetation and emphasizes botanically interesting areas, most of which are easily accessible by trail. Common names are used whenever possible throughout this section. The second section is a catalog of vascular plants which notes habitats and species abundance.
