Under the proper conditions, (NH4)8Re07 may be calcined to a reddish-colored oxide, which, on treating with H20, releases oxygen and is converted to hydrated R03. After calcination, this ROg has a bulk density of approximately 1.4 g./cc;it does ;not react quite an readily with CC14 in the liquid phase as the R03 prepared from R04.\nR3°8 prepared either by calcining (IHI^eReO? or R04 nay be reacted with CC14 in the liquid phase to yield a good quality RC1S. The chlorination reaction proceeds as rapidly of even more rapidly than it does with active R03 (from R04) and, other conditions being the sane, the operating pressures are lower.
