摘要

The experiment on Al(27), which is the subject of this paper, was undertaken as part of the program of this laboratory to measure the nuclear spins and quadrupole moments of light nuclei by the atomic beam magnetic resonance method. Among the nuclei in which there is theoretical interest are the boron nuclei. The high boiling point and the high ionization potential make the problems of generation and detection of an atomic beam of boron rather formidable. As a step towards boron, it was decided to try aluminum, which has a lower boiling point than boron, but a higher boiling point than any that had previously been done by the atomic beam magnetic resonance method.
