Direct Solar Steam-Generating System

摘要

A new technology is described that generates steam by the use of solar energy. Steam is generated directly in the solar collectors. The advantages of direct solar steam generation are compared with the methods of indirect solar steam generation that are now in use. In addition, schematics and modes of operation of a demonstration system are presented. To establish feasibility of the concept, and to obtain necessary design parameters, preliminary testing was conducted. Testing data establish the feasibility of direct solar steam generation. This concept is suitable for generating low-pressure steam (up to 240 kPa). The major applications are expected to be in process steam, absorption cooling, and steam heating. (ERA citation 08:023316)
