摘要

It is shown that the temperature of formation of a ceramic thermal barrier coating (TBC) can be controlled in vacuo by internal substrate impingement cooling using both compressed air and water. It is further demonstrated that major changes in TBC columnar morphology can be achieved and controlled in this fashion. Implications for potential thermal cycle durability are discussed.
