Electrical Properties of Flexible Detonator Cables

Electrical properties of flexible detonator cables were evaluated. Tests were conducted to measure leakage current between conductors, high potential voltage for failure between conductors, surge cycles required for failure, and effects of lamination pressure on high voltage performance. The tests confirmed the 10 kV, 2 mu A electrical criteria for inspection. Optimum lamination pressure was 4.14 MPa. Repeated testing did not appreciably degrade the dielectric material.
