Proceedings of an Informal Seminar on Suppression of Gas Explosions on Offshore Gas and Oil Installations

One main objective of the seminar was to establish a clear picture of the state-of-the-art of gas explosion suppression with a special view to the application on offshore platforms. The influence on the efficiency of the suppression process, of turbulence, chemical and physical properties of suppressant, mechanism of suppressant injection and explosion detection methods, was elucidated.
