Statistical Methods Applied to Treaty Verification

Arms-control treaties usually include provisions for verification that all parties are complying with the agreed-upon terms. The absence of specific or sufficient verification has led to well-publicized charges of non-compliance, particularly for treaties between the United States and the Soviet Union. An entirely new and better way of conducting verification is proposed based on statistical methods that make use of common scientific practices. (ERA citation 12:041278)
