摘要

The problem of designing finite-pulse-train radar signals and receivers to maximize the detectability of targets masked by thermal noise and clutter returns is considered in this work. A practical constraint is introduced: the amplitude of each sub-pulse in the transmit waveform is taken to be fixed. This limits the transmitter waveform design to an optimal selection of only the phase modulation of the signal. The need for such a constraint arises because practical radar considerations dictate that the amplitude of the transmitter waveform should be a constant. This important constraint has, for the most part, been neglected in previous works.
