Image errors for signaled points on polyester-based aerial film are analyzed for their precision differences and effects in photogrammetric modelling. The errors are separated according to systematic and accidental aspects, and accidental image errors are then transfered to the photogrammetric model according to the error continuity law. Results show that geometrical errors in optical image forming are only important it they cannot be eliminated by image coordinate corrections. The median error of coordinates on polyester films is much smaller than that for acetate films; errors increased from picture center towards picture edges by a median factor of 1 to 2.
