Experimental investigations were carried out to analytically describe the curved part of a shock wave reflected on a wedge, as data from the literature do not predict the curved reflected shock in Mach and regular reflection. The analytical description is obtained from the diffraction by wedges, from which the shock Mach number and the flow directly underneath the reflected wave can be calculated. Investigations with flattened and shifted wedges show the influence of the wedge apex on the shape of the reflected shock.
