A Calculation Procedure for the Transient and Steady State Behaviour of Shell and Tube Heat Exchangers

A numerical procedure is described for the prediction of three-dimensional flow patterns in the shells of shell-and-tube heat exchangers, and of the temperature distributions in fluids. The capabilities of this procedure are demonstrated by calculations of the behavior of a particular exchanger, operating under a variety of steady state and transient conditions. (Author)
