The purpose of the mobile solar reflectameter is to measure the reflectance of a surface for solar energy above the earth’s atmosphere. The reflectameter is composed of a detection head and a portable cabinet with electronic power supply and read-out systems. In the detection head radiation from a Xenon Lamp is filtered and led into an integrating sphere. When the operator directs this radiation onto a surface placed over the sample port, the detector in the sphere has an output proportional to the amount of reflected radiation. This output is read off the indicating potentiometer in the cabinet.
