Volume Optimization of Pin-Jointed Frameworks with Variable Nodal Positions

The minimum weight design of pin jointed frameworks with fixed topology but variable node position is considered. In sections 3.1 and 3.2 expressions are obtained for a weight function in terms of the structural variables, and restrictions on the types of structures for which these expressions are valid are discussed.
