In this reporting period we have been studying several aspects of the behavior of microorganisms associated with soil pastilles. Details of some of the studies are included in this report. The study to determine the effect of storage time, suspending medium, storage temperature and cleaning procedures on the stability and the dry heat resistance of Baci11 us Subtills var. Niger spores is being continued. Heaton tests on spores stored for 39 months under the various conditions will be performed In October. We have completed studies on the effect of several levels of water on the survival of Daei11 us Subtills var. Niger spores. An abstract of the thesis of Dr. Ronald Jacobson is included in this report and a copy of the thesis will be delivered to Dr. Hall.
