This volume contains a large amount of data obtained from diverse experiments, but there is a connection between the various experiments in that each part contributes to a more complete understanding of the deformation and fragmentation problems.nInitially, the amount of explosive needed to deform SS engines was determined. Results, as expected, showed a larger degree of deformation with increasing weight of explosive. The restrair.ing effects of flanges and thick-walled areas were noted. When, equal amounts of explosive were used, the charge closer to the wall of the engine caused more damage.
