RESULTS OF ROCKET SONDE MEASUREMENTS OF OZORS FROM WOOMERA (31°S) AND THE ESTIMATION OF STRATOSPHERIC NITROGEN DIOXIDE CONCENTRATIONS

Results from four rocket sonde measurements of the ozone distribution above Woomera (136°E, 31°3) are described, and comparison is made with ozone profiles from other locations.nThe effects of odd nitrogen oxides (NOx) upon the photochemical ozone distribution is atudied using a simplified i-dimensional numerical model. Concentrations of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) required to sustain the experimental ozone profiles have been estimated and the results agree well with recent experimental data for stratospheric NO2.
