摘要

The well-known surface-source method of calculating potential flow can be improved by refining the underlying numerical analysis. Instead of approximating a body contour by straight-line elements on each of which the source density is constant, the present analysis uses parabolic elements and linearly-varying source density. The result is a large increase in computing speed and accuracy.nThis report describes the theory and presents a number of calculated results to illustrate the effectiveness of the modification.
