DETERMINATION OF TRANSFER FUNCTION OF COPY CORRELATION INTERFEROMETER INSTRUMENT

An estimate of the transfer function of the NASA/Langley COPEU correlation interferometer instrument, constructed by General Electric under an AAFE Program, has been obtained by comparison of theoretical interferometer signatures with those of the instrument under labora¬tory conditions. The need to do this is reviewed in light of the 1974 COPE flight data. In the course of this study, it was found that the instrument was in a less than optimal configuration. Con¬clusions are presented with regard to requirements for future flight testing programs with the COPE instrument.
