FILM LIGHTING USING METAL-HALIDE LAMPS: the effect of intensity ripple asymmetry

When a discharge lamp is run from an alternating supply, the intensity of light from the lamp varies between maximum and minimum values at twice the supply fre¬quency. The present report analyses the film exposure variations which can occur, if such a light source is used for film lighting, when alternate intensity maxima differ in value.
