POLARIZATION PROPERTIES OF EDGE LOADED HIGH GAIN REFLECTOR ANTENNAS

A general theory of reflector antennas loaded by surface impedances is presented. The theory is experimentally checked on surface loaded square plate scratterers and then applied for comp¬uting the radiation diagram of parabolic and hyperbolic dishes. . Although computer programs and computed diagrams refer to the case of focal illumination, the theory is able to handle the case of offset illumination. Spatial variation of primary illumination is taken into account either using the slope diffraction coeff¬icient or a convolutional approach. The relationship between the two computational techniques is outlined.
