Use of Elastomers in Regenerative Braking Systems

The results of research into the storage of potential energy as strain energy in elastomers are presented. The evolution of the preferred stressing scheme is described, and test results on full-size elastomeric energy storage units sized for an automotive regenerative braking system application are presented.
