Digital Processing of Landsat Data for the Preparation of a Land Use Map of the Rural District Surrounding Tuebingen to a Scale of 1: 50,000

A 1: 50,000 land use map of the rural district Tuebingen was deduced from a 1975 LANDSAT scene using Dibias, an interactive digital image processing system for image processing. Algorithms for geometrical rectification to Gauss-Krueger-Krueger coordinates and the maximum-likelihood classification of the data are employed. Results are combined with optical and digital topographical information and are compared with a conventional vegetation map. Usefulness for regional planning is assessed.
