摘要

The feasibility of using Fourier series representations in structural mechanics is illustrated by the problem of beam bending under distributed loading. It is shown that three representations of the force function, (half-range cosine, half-range sine, and mixed) yield the same final solution, and are thus valid. It is concluded that the choice should be based on considerations of simplicity and/or convenience of the solution process.
