摘要

Operational features related to the compression/decompression of data on board satellites are surveyed. Operational usage, error control, and instrument interfaces of a compressor in multispectral, multiframe, and nonimaging applications are discussed. Consequences for the system throughput speed, programmability, and power consumption are obtained. Multiframe applications are emphasized as they are of special interest to the space station.
