Millimeter Wave Antenna Measurements with the HP 8510 Network Analyzer

The possibilities of performing millimeter-wave antenna measurements by using the HP8510 network analyzer are investigated. The configuration and operation of the modified mm-wave test setup are described. The results of antenna measurements, performed at 30, 35, and 39 GHz with 2 different types of antennas are discussed. The dynamic range of the system is stressed. A method to use the time domain feature of the analyzer for aperture field analysis is described.
