Global Renaming Operators in Concrete Process Algebra. Annual Report 1984

Renaming operators are introduced in concrete process algebra (i.e., abstraction and silent moves are not considered). Examples of renaming operators are given: encapsulation, pre-abstraction, and localization. It is shown that renamings enhance the defining power of concrete process algebra by using the example of a queue. The trace set of a process is defined, and it is shown when equality of trace sets implies equality of processes. Trace sets are used to define the restriction of a process. Processes with actions that have a side effect on a state space are described, and how to use them for translation of computer programs into process algebra is outlined.
