A friction test stand was designed for the investigation of the effect of high frequency vibrations of a vehicle wheel on the relation between contact forces and the relative velocity or slip of the rolling wheel. The basic concept of the test stand, the coordinate system for the study of the contact problem, the friction body, and the contact mechanics problem are outlined. The criteria for the construction of the test stand and for the materials choice are given. Experiments for the investigation of the force-slip relation are proposed. The theoretical and approximate formulas for the contact problem are given.
