Proposal for a New Software Reliability Model and Its Preliminary Assessment

A software reliability model which is described by a nonlinear differential equation of Riccati type is proposed. The model is an extension of Musa's model. It removes the hypothesis of nonindependent faults and is based on a simple assumption on the nature and structure of errors in a program. The model is validated with respect to experimental data. Parameters are estimated by a simple least squares method.
